Announcing the Winner of the
Official Movie Poster Re-Creation Contest
For our first Cultural Campaign, we introduced the Movie Poster Re-Creation Contest, challenging participants to reinterpret iconic film posters that address pressing social issues. Drawing from a selection of films centered on themes like human rights, environmentalism, equality, and justice, contestants were tasked with bringing these visuals to life in a way that reflects their relevance today.
Now, we are thrilled to introduce our grand prize winner, whose work fully encapsulates IDEALIST’s core values—creativity, storytelling, and social impact. Their re-creation not only demonstrates artistic vision and technical skill but also powerfully embodies the contest’s mission: to use cinema as a catalyst for awareness, conversation, and change.
Judas and The Black Messiah
"I chose to replicate the poster from the film Judas and The Black Messiah because of this film's surprising relevance to modern events regarding activism and its observation by the government. I also recently rewatched the film before creating this poster, only reinforcing the modern themes of activism that are seen in America today. This contest was an excellent way for me to apply and channel this passion for social justice into my art, so thank you.”

About the Artist
Hi, my full name is Kian Jeong-gyu Egami. I was adopted from Ulsan, South Korea, when I was six months old, and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area my entire life. I am currently in Boston as a first-year student at Emerson College, studying Film and Media Production as a Visual Media Arts major. I've been obsessed with cameras ever since I was a kid, but it wasn't until high school that I saw how films affected me emotionally, mentally, and physically. I knew then that I needed to make others feel the same range of emotions that I felt so long ago. I want to influence and inspire an audience the way that certain films and directors have inspired me. With my extra time, I've recently been exploring different passions of mine, like graphic design and photography! Feel free to reach out with any questions or inquiries at my email kianegami.films@gmail.com!
